Meet the Artist
My work as a quilt and textile artist is rooted in my deep appreciation of the natural world, and especially in my affinity for the North. My natural curiosity leads me to ongoing learning about and from other cultures. As a firm believer in cooperative action, I aim to weave community through my active local engagement.
My art reflects my reaction to the world today, both natural and societal, and ranges from social commentary to capturing the beauty of wild places and phenomena. Working primarily in improvisational piecing and fluid free-motion quilting, I bring ideas to life intuitively – reacting and adjusting to the piece as it evolves. I have recently begun to experiment with repurposed textiles and painting on fabric, bringing my long commitment to eco-friendly approaches to my art practice.
Through my art, I invite you to remember the importance of local community, the interconnectedness of our human race within all other aspects of the natural world, and the responsibility that comes with recognizing that we are part of it – not above it.
